Wide Awake

Wolves asleep amidst the trees
Bats all a swaying in the breeze
But one soul lies anxious wide awake
Fearing no manner of ghouls hags and wraiths

Sobbing in the dark by an old floor heater
Shadows crawling out with an evil demeanor
Broken down inside and i'm asking god why
Laughing as i'm crying cause' I got no reply
Is it because I was never baptized
Is it because you read a book full of lies
Shadows want to play now i'm feeling alright

I rolled a ball to them and they rolled it right back
It happened three times then the ball got flat
Walking back and forth then the hallway door slammed
I wonder if I did something that made em' mad
Dishes shatter in the kitchen even neighbors heard the mess
More excited than spooked barely now I confess
Lit my brothers bed on fire and I slept with an ax
