Long long ago
In the days before the coming of Christ
There was a prophecy told by wise men
Of a star that would light the night
And the star would be a sign
For all the world to see
And it told of the birth of a child king

This promise to man
For God appeared to Joseph in a dream
And said go forth and take Mary's hand
He said go to Bethlehem you and Mary
And have this child
And this miracle of the Lord's been told
Across the ages through all men's lives

Three wise men came
From lands so far away
To worship this baby
Born in a manger of hay
When they saw the child
All they could do was stare
Because the presence of God
Was felt thick in the air
And the shephards came and they knelt down
And praised the coming of the king they'd found

The story of Jesus and his births been told
The story's known to all
The young as well as the old
But it's not just a story
It's the promise of God
That he would send his son to guide us
And to show us a better way

Yes this story is true
About a baby that came
And because of his birth
The world forever was changed
So thank you "Dear Lord"
For the promise and the sign
The promise that he'll be
In our hearts for all time
