Just enjoying ourselves, no reason why

We'd watch Footloose (jeez)
Or see Dirty Dancing for the good tunes (bangs)
Yeah the girls all wanted to be Charlie's Angels
And the boys like Rocky, a cultural staple
Yeah that's what it's like as an 80's kid
We don't mention our roots for the sake of it
No internet, mad, we were off the grid
So it's easy to think that it's gone to shit

We would spend too long on mixtapes for our friends

We would try moonwalk then we'd fail again
But we didn't care cos we were having fun

We didn't want to be a nerd, no not one
Coolest guy was Tom Cruise from Top Gun (pap)
Obsessed with the Rubik's cube
Watched Ghostbusters and Scooby Doo
New Star Wars films, had to wait in queues
Common interests shared, we all loved the Goonies (yep)
That's Spielberg, loved ET
We would pass time watching Stand By Me
Or Star Trek, A-Team, Mister T
I said my hometown was the place to be
Cos you know we had a great time back in the day
They were giving man life for a packet of caine
With the war on drugs well underway
But Bob Ross still smoked an eighth a day
It's improved a lot but they're still the good days
The thoughts in the mind of an 80's kid
I just hope that I've shown what the 80's is
The home of many in the best ten years
