We are playing all the songs off the album for you, and

I gotta be honest, there are some song on here that maybe some people might think
"Oh, you know, that was a curve ball or
The sound of that, maybe," this one actually kinda caught me by surprise
Because it's perhaps one of the more country sounding songs
On here, in terms of fiddle and throwback
It reminded me of kinda Alabama throwback
"Drink A Little Beer", which features your dad on there
And he also had a hand in writing that, so
I mean talk to me about this song and the fact that
In some ways, I mean it's almost like blending his 90s career
With where you are today

Yeah, I think it's hilarious that
I think it kinda proves that we've curved out enough of a lane in this genre
For that to be the weirdest song on the record
(It kinda shocked me) I think like
That's such a funny, and I think that's why I cut it 'cause I think
I love just making people be like, "Wow"
Like "I was definitely not expecting that"
And this is one of those ones that I think, I know for a fact when people hear this record
When they get to that song they're gonna think, "I cannot believe that this track is on here"
And so, it's nice to just dive back in to what I grew up listening to
And actually cut an original song that has such an ode to like 70s and 80s country
And especially to have my dad, who that's when he grew up
Uhm, to have a song like that with him on it
That basically describes why he loves country music in the first place
And so the song is cool, and the song is super catchy
And I think it'll be a really great song live, but more so than that
It's just, you know, as old as I get
I can always say that me and my dad sang a song together on my record

Well, and I was gonna ask, the end is kinda fun
And somebody described to me, "Oh, wait the Alan Jackson moment's gonna be coming"
So did you guys just sorta leave the tape rolling or was that planned?
Like, "Hey, we're just gonna riff at the end of this song"

Well, you know when the song ends it goes into that double time section at the end
Which is such as staple of that time or period
And also was the guy talking over the outro
And so like we decided that we were just kinda gonna go back and forth, and
You know jab at each other a little bit, and it was just really, really fun
Yeah, I loved your dad's line, "I taught you everything you know, but not everything I know"
Exactly, I'm pretty sure he stole that from someone
I'm sure he did, but he'll never tell you who

Wir spielen alle Songs des Albums für dich, und

ich muss ehrlich sein, es gibt ein paar Songs hier, bei denen manche Leute vielleicht denken,
"Oh, weißt du, das war ein Überraschungsmoment oder
der Klang davon, vielleicht", dieser hat mich tatsächlich ein wenig überrascht,
weil es vielleicht einer der Country-lastigeren Songs ist,
was die Fiddle und den Rückblick angeht.
Es erinnerte mich an eine Art Alabama-Rückblick.
"Trink ein bisschen Bier", bei dem dein Vater dabei ist,
und er hat auch beim Schreiben mitgewirkt, also
sprich mit mir über diesen Song und die Tatsache, dass
es in gewisser Weise fast so ist, als würde man seine 90er-Jahre-Karriere
mit dem verbinden, wo du heute bist.

Ja, ich finde es urkomisch, dass
ich denke, es beweist irgendwie, dass wir uns in diesem Genre eine Nische geschaffen haben,
sodass das der seltsamste Song auf der Platte ist.
(Es hat mich irgendwie schockiert) Ich denke,
das ist so lustig, und ich denke, deshalb habe ich ihn aufgenommen, weil ich
es liebe, die Leute einfach sagen zu lassen: "Wow",
so wie "Das habe ich definitiv nicht erwartet".
Und das ist einer dieser Songs, von denen ich denke, ich weiß mit Sicherheit, wenn die Leute diese Platte hören,
wenn sie zu diesem Song kommen, werden sie denken: "Ich kann nicht glauben, dass dieser Track hier drauf ist".
Und so ist es schön, einfach wieder in das einzutauchen, womit ich aufgewachsen bin,
und tatsächlich einen Originalsong aufzunehmen, der eine solche Ode an die Country-Musik der 70er und 80er ist.
Und besonders, dass mein Vater, der in dieser Zeit aufgewachsen ist,
ähm, einen solchen Song mit ihm drauf hat,
der im Grunde beschreibt, warum er Country-Musik überhaupt liebt.
Und so ist der Song cool, und der Song ist super eingängig,
und ich denke, er wird live ein wirklich toller Song sein, aber mehr noch,
es ist einfach, weißt du, so alt ich auch werde,
ich kann immer sagen, dass mein Vater und ich zusammen einen Song auf meiner Platte gesungen haben.

Nun, und ich wollte fragen, das Ende ist irgendwie lustig,
und jemand hat mir beschrieben: "Oh, warte, der Alan-Jackson-Moment wird kommen",
also habt ihr einfach das Band weiterlaufen lassen oder war das geplant?
So nach dem Motto: "Hey, wir werden am Ende dieses Songs einfach ein bisschen improvisieren."

Nun, weißt du, wenn der Song endet, geht er in diesen Double-Time-Abschnitt am Ende über,
was ein Markenzeichen dieser Zeit oder Periode ist.
Und auch der Typ, der über das Outro spricht,
und so haben wir beschlossen, dass wir einfach ein bisschen hin und her gehen, und
uns gegenseitig ein wenig aufziehen, und es war einfach wirklich, wirklich lustig.
Ja, ich liebte die Zeile deines Vaters: "Ich habe dir alles beigebracht, was du weißt, aber nicht alles, was ich weiß."
Genau, ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass er das von jemandem gestohlen hat.
Ich bin sicher, das hat er, aber er wird dir nie sagen, von wem.
