Songtexte Homeless Kid - Bill Thwing
Walking
down
my
back
alley
in
the
middle
of
the
night
This
little
kid
stared
up
at
me.
He
gave
me
quite
a
fright
He
hardly
had
no
clothes
on,
he
was
fragile,
he
was
slight
I
asked
him
what
you
doing
here,
Kid,
in
the
middle
of
the
night
He
was
shivering
with
cold,
skinny
as
a
rail
You
could
hardly
hear
his
voice.
It
quivered
and
it
quailed
I'm
hungry
and
I'm
cold,
he
said.
I
don't
know
what
to
do
My
family
got
no
home
no
more
and
I
got
to
pull
'em
through
Homeless
folk
are
everywhere
in
our
cities
and
our
towns
A
lot
of
folk
are
doing
their
best
not
to
let
them
down
If
you
can
help
you
gotta
try.
Roll
up
your
sleeves
and
pray
Turn
on
your
brain,
call
a
friend,
you
can
find
a
way
Where
is
it
you
live,
I
said.
He
showed
me
this
old
home
Abandoned
and
unheated.
No
lights
he
could
turn
on
He
led
me
to
the
basement
where
his
Mom
and
Dad
were
camped
It
smelled
of
mold
and
mildew
growing
there
in
the
damp
A
baby
in
a
basket
was
coughing
sick
and
sad
We
took
him
to
the
clinic,
but
it
was
closed,
they
said
I
took
them
home
with
me
that
night,
and
fed
them
best
I
could
The
pillows
on
my
sofa
covered
up
the
cold
hard
wood
Next
day
I
drove
them
into
town,
to
the
homeless
shelter
there
But
they
said
they
were
all
filled
up
and
they
had
no
beds
to
spare
So,
I
brought
to
the
food
pantry
which
was
downstairs
in
a
church
The
pastor
said"We'll
do
our
best
not
to
leave
them
in
the
lurch
Homeless
folk
are
everywhere
in
our
cities
and
our
towns
A
lot
of
folk
are
doing
their
best
not
to
let
them
down
If

help
you
gotta
try.
Roll
up
your

and
pray
Turn
on
your

call
a

you
can
find
a
way
Pastor
found
a
rooming
house
that
would
take
them
right
away
Got
them
clothes
from
the
Good
Will
store.
They
didn't
have
to
pay
Found
the
guy
a
job.
Made
sure
they
had
some
food
And
before
too
long
that
kid's
family
was
doing
pretty
good
Love
your
neighbor
as
yourself
is
what
the
good
book
says
Put
yourself
in
each
other's
shoes.
Try
to
visualize
their
mess
There
are
always
times
in
a
kid's
life,
when
they
think
the
end
has
come
That's
when
you
lend
a
hand
and
you
help
them
find
a
home
