I′m walking alone, I lost my friend

Suddenly, I hear guns firing
I look closer and see someone running and hiding
A guy came too close, that poor little bastard
He tries to run away, but those bandits are faster
They hit him. shot him right in the back
One of them walks up to him and shoots him in the head
No mercy, no sympathy, they just drop others dead
And then loot them for every little thing they got left
Why, didn't I react what have I become?
When in this world have I become so numb?
I could′ve saved him, but somehow I didn't
I was never supposed to be so indifferent
