Gil Scott-Heron - Introduction (Live 1983) Lyrics

Lyrics Introduction (Live 1983) - Gil Scott-Heron

How is everybody doing? Everybody alright?
Good evening
For those of you who do not know me, I am Miles Davis
No, my name is Gil Scott-Heron, and I'm very pleased to be here
I'm glad that so many of you could come out and join us this evening
We have been doing songs now for some time that we felt would have
Some intellectual as well as emotional impact
Some spiritual as well as physical motivation behind it
We started to do songs back in 1974
About what we considered to be the major danger facing the human Earth
And in that, we were talking about the dangers of nuclear power and the misuse of nuclear power
Did a song then called "South Carolina"
A couple of years later we did a song that was based on a book by a man named John Fuller
It was called "We Almost Lost Detroit"
About the story of one of the first nuclear accidents
We contributed this song to an album called "No Nukes" and to a film by the same name
And I'd like to contribute it to you this evening
