Right now I feel like a forgotten soldier,
I've been eight hours on the road.
Doesn't anybody see me standing here,
in my soldier's coat?
And rain ain't kindly to a weary man
and passing cars look snug and warm.
There ain't no comforts for a forgotten soldier
standing in the storm.

Hey! I think I'll read your crumpled letter one more time
to reassure me that our love has stood the test.
