Текст песни Prayin' - Austin Lanier

Yeah, Rest In Peace
I can't believe your gone man Rest In Peace Ashton
Yeah, you know I love you
Yeah, yeah
You was my brother
Yeah, See I was riding through the city chillin with my homie
Won't doing nothing crazy
We was low key
My license was suspended
So I had him drive me
I was in the passenger right beside him
See I always kept the loud on me in the city
Really I don't know why but this time was different
Cause usually while we ride we be getting blunted
For some reason we was riding clean
Ain't had nothing
So here we go riding through the city sober
Last thing on my mind was getting pulled over
And driving downtown past the cop station
Right there on the side was a cop waiting
When he saw us drive past I know what he thought
There's a young black man in a nice car
Then I saw he started following us for no reason
Right lane driving straight
We ain't even speeding
Then I turned to my brother and said here we go
Man I know it's going down
We been here before
But my boy kept it cool he just kept on driving
But I was pissed of before I even heard the sirens
Then he pulled in to the Burger King
Almost turned into a murder scene
When I got out of the whip
I started yelling out we ain't do nothing
And that's when the cop pulled a gun off his hip
And said get on the ground and then do not resist
If you make me pull the trigger I will not miss
But I didn't listen
I was busy tripping
Then I looked to the sky like I guess this is it
That's when I started prayin
Lord forgive me for my sins
I just hope I make it in to heaven amen
Snap back to reality
Oh, there goes gravity
Starring down the barrel
Bout to be another tragedy
My mother and my father and my brother, they gonna miss me
Ten cops yelling at me get down stop resisting
And my boy he didn't know what to do
He got on the ground and said Austin please don't make em shoot
I had nothing to lose
But I had everything to prove
I said you know that cop was racist
Man I'm doing this for you
That's what I thought but really I was just confused
Should I let them boys arrest me
Or just end up on the news
In that moment I didn't know what to do
Tik tok I'm running out of time to choose
Yeah, if I fight for it
I'm willing to die for it
I had to face racism as a white boy
My whole life my best friends have been black
Now my best friends got two cops on his back
Why they putting him in handcuffs all because of me
If I wouldn't of been trippin
We probably would've been free
But I did so we not
Now the cops telling me
Put your hands on your head
As I drop to my knees
That's when I started prayin
Lord forgive me for my sins
I just hope I make it in to heaven amen
Fast forward now I'm pulling up in jail
I wanted to go to heaven but I was headed to hell
The cop told me that he wish he'd pulled the trigger
Black hoodie and some skittles
Only thing that I was missing
I knew it but I ain't have no way to prove that he was racist
And he pulled us over because he was assuming
Were doing something wrong
But really we were really doing right
And he only pulled us over because my boy wasn't white
So I decided to fight
It almost cost me my life
But I learned the most valuable lesson after that night
That we need to stand up for freedom
But we need to do it in a way that's productive
Cause a lot of ways are foolish
Now what's crazy is my best friend is dead
And it's not cause a crooked cop filled him up with led
See he survived that night of getting arrested
Years later he committed suicide from depression
When I found out I broke down in tears
I was with every single day
Now he isn't here
I didn't know that he carried so much pain
Now I can't help but feel like I'm partially to blame
Cause I changed up my ways from when he and I were feenin'
And we couldn't go a single day without getting weeded
Then I gave my life to God
When I felt the love of Jesus
And I realized that weed was what we really needed
See Ashton didn't have a mom or a dad
He had a smile so bright
But on the inside he was sad
If I would've been a better friend I know I could've helped
But I was caught up in my sin so I was thinking bout myself
And now I pray
Lord forgive me for ways
Yes I know I'm still a sinner
But I'm living under grace
Even when I tried my hardest
I will never be perfect
But I know I have a purpose
And I know my life is worth it
The same goes for anybody listening to this song
I still talk about you Ashton
Even though I know your gone
When I tell the world that story of the day that I was tripping
I'm just praying that somehow it makes a difference
