බුදු බණක් කියන්නට පුතු ගෙදර ඇවිල්ලා
බුදු සුවඳ බුදු එළිය පැල පුරා ඉහිරිලා
බුදු පුතේ නුඹ දිනෙක බුදු වෙයන් කියාලා
නියත විවරණ දෙන්න යමු මැණිකෙ නැගිටලා

හැබැයි ඉස්සර වගේ මගෙ පුතේ කියාලා
තුරුළු කරගන්නනම් එපා ඉක්මන් වෙලා
බත් කටක් කවන්නට හිත ගියත් ළං වෙලා
එපා සිල් ඇවැත්වෙයි මවු සෙනෙහෙ සිහි වෙලා

බණ කතා කියන කොට හුරතලෙන් මුව විදා
කඳුළු පිස දුක නිවෙන බණ අසමු නෙතු පියා
හැඬුම් නැති සිතින් පුතු දකින්නට දිරි පතා
අපිත් විවරණ ලබමු වැටී වැඳ පුතු දෙපා

I came to your house to share Buddha's words with you, my child
The fragrance and light of the Buddha permeate your abode
My son, they say that you will become a Buddha someday
Let's ascend to the pulpit and deliver the divine teachings

But unlike your father before you
Do not rush to ordination
Even if you desire to partake in a morsel of food
Refrain, for your mother's love lingers in my mind

As I speak the Dhamma, tears stream down my cheeks
Your words bring solace and liberation, my precious son
With hearts free from sorrow, we gaze upon you
We too seek enlightenment, we bow at your feet
