Eight snowballs long as white as she is mean
And as the sun comes up she'll melt and begin to seem

Well the neighbor kids came out and asked if they could play
I started hesitating but my caterpillar gave me the courage to say
I need a bucket for a hat and sticks for antennae, please

We worked for several hours with hardly word
A snowball here and there and maybe a bird
And when the time had come we stood back to observe
Out marvelous maggot in all her splendor

Well now we're all freezing, we go on inside
Mommy made a fire, daddy baked pie
