She said I make kids work harder,

When I think they're being good

A disappointment to a scholar.

For anything less than their best.
I make study hall quiet,
For almost 40 minutes.

I don't believe it was intended.

To a better life.

A lot of kids, graduated.

Her face turned red,
She realized she'd lost it
The room got quiet.
And when everyone applauded,
She said I make kids believe,
That it's alright to dream.
With a little faith and hardwork,
You can do anything.
