Slim Dusty - Sale Day at St. Lawrence текст песни

Текст песни Sale Day at St. Lawrence - Slim Dusty

Its sale day at St. Lawrence, with cattle buyers here,
Store sale at St. Lawrence, only happens once a year.
It happens in the month of march around St. Patrick's Day
And modern transport trucks are here to take the stock away.
Drovers bring the stores in across the hills and plains
They drove them like we used to do, before the big road trains.
They walk them on the stock routes, then let them spread and feed
The horsemen on the tailin' wings and steadying the lead.
And it's good to see young ringers wearin' stockman cut moleskins,
Williams boots, Akubra hats and leggings on their shins,
A leather pouch sewn to their belt with Henry Boker knife;
Just like the old-time drovers, that I knew in early life.
Astride a sturdy stockhorse, with hand on red high reins
A sight that brings back mem'ries that I could not explain
With saddle bag and quart pot strapped to the saddle dees
With stockwhip coiled and ready to swing and fold with ease.
The drover's job completed, the auctioneers are gone,
The cattle trucks are loaded up and they too have moved on.
Stockman fill the barroom enjoying hard earned beers,
Sale day at St. Lawrence, took me back thirty years.
And it's good to see young ringers wearing stockman cut moleskins,
Williams boots, Akubra hats and leggings on their shins,
A leather pouch sewn to their belt with Henry Boker knife.
Just like the old-time drovers, that I knew in early life.
Just like the old-time drovers, that I knew in early life.
