We were on a vacation, our annual family cruise
On a sight seeing trip, we planned our elaborate ruse
Among a large group of tourists, I could easily give them the slip
I'd mix in with the locals and I wouldn't return to the ship
A cruise is just for mediocrities
With its Free buffets and amenities
Extraordinary people spend the rest of their lives in Belize
Our plan was My wife would return to the ship and report me
As missing and of course they would call the police to escort me
While back in Belize, I would lay low with the barest essentials
I'd Pay to falsify a passport and arrange for other legal credentials
Any law biding person agrees
This plot had us over our skis
Perpetrate fraud and spend the rest of our lives in Belize
The tour was informal, there were lots of us and never a tally
We were touring downtown and we walked passed a dark, narrow alley
I tapped my wife's shoulder and headed for the alley unescorted
But she pulled me back by the arm and back with the group, our plan aborted
We saved a fortune in lawyers and fees
And spent no time in penitentiaries
Who knows maybe someday we'll make it back to Belize
