Vince Gill - Vince On Go Rest High On That Mountain (Commentary) текст песни

Текст песни Vince On Go Rest High On That Mountain (Commentary) - Vince Gill

Yeah, I think "Go Rest High On That Mountain" is... is...
Will be the one song that... that if you look at me
What did he do?
Well, he wrote that "Go Rest High On That Mountain" song
That was sung at every funeral for the next bunch of years
And a funeral director told me one time
He saw me, and he goes, "Look I like your song and all, but I swear if I'd never hear it again I'll be fine"
So it's... it's kind of a modern day "Amazing Grace"
And, and that's pretty heavy, you know, and it's pretty overwhelming
I wasn't even record it, I wasn't even going record that song when I wrote it
Umm I just wanted to grieve and write this song for losing my brother
And, and Tony talked to me and says, "You gotta record that"
You know, and so, so we did and I'm sure grateful that we did and I just liked that...
The fact that I created something that people go to
When they're struggling the hardest, you know
So I sing it for a whole lot of people you know
I think when... Sweet Jim Ed Brown passed
He told his family he says, "I love that boy, but I don't wanna have to have him sing that song"
At my funeral tell him, "Just take the day off"
And uh, I was with Eddie Stubbs, the great announcer at WSM and my dear friend
We were at some, you know, there'd been a rash of a lot of hillbilly folks passing on
You know he eulogized and I sang, he eulogized and I sang several in a row
And he looked my one days and he says, "Hoss, I think you and me are gonna bury 'em all"
And uh, you know. I just think tha,t you know, at the end of the day, you know
That's when you want somebody to reach out to you the most is when they hurting
When they're really struggling, and that to me has the most depth of mattering
Uh, So uh, you know, it's funny that I've always hoped that that song could wind up in a hymnal
