Mike Bryant - A Veteran's Pride Songtexte

Songtexte A Veteran's Pride - Mike Bryant

A Veteran's Pride
You could see him in an alley all alone
It's been years since this old man has had a home
Around his shoulders like a blanket
There's a flag
And if you'd take the time to listen
He would brag
About the time he served his country long ago
To fight in a war
He really didn't want to go
But the call for freedom helped him understand
That to serve would help the boy become a man
Oh Lord
He fought and saw his friends die
And it seemed
That he couldn't change a thing
While at home he heard of protests
Calling soldiers evil names
And though the old mans pride of country still remains
There's so much about the old man's life that's changed
Yes the old man's pride of country still remains
But there's so much about the old man's life that's changed
In the cold I passed the place where he should be
And I stopped to look not believing what I see
Just a tattered flag and an empty chair alone
And a note that said
This soldier has gone home
